1. Why can't I see the Tibetan script?
If you are not using Internet Explorer for Windows, you must download the font. IE Win users do not need to download it because it is embedded in the site.Go to the Tibetan Font Display page to download the font.
2. Why are there spaces between the Tibetan letters?
This only happens in Internet Explorer. IE does not interpret the Tibetan font correctly and places those annoying spaces. Actually IE will add space after any vowel. We have found a way to fix this, but it does not always work with long texts. It's very hard to read a text that has those spaces. So the best solution is to switch from IE to Firefox. Firefox does not add spaces, and generally works much better. If you want to stick to IE, then try to refresh the page. Don't close it, you have to refresh it without closing. For some reason this will sometimes take away those extra spaces.
3. Why does the Tibetan script appear jagged?
There is an option in Windows to smooth the edges of screen fonts. The font will look much better if you turn this on. Go to the Tibetan Font Display page to see how to turn this on.
4. Are you a Tibetan?
One of us is, the other is not. If you want to know more about us you can check out the About Us page.
5. Are you a Tibetan language teacher?
Neither of us is a language specialist or trained teacher. However, Sonam's first language is Tibetan and he has some experience in teaching westerners, as well as Tibetan children.
6. Can you do some translation for me?
We do translate words and simple sentences in the Translations section of the Message Forum. It's possible Sonam might do some translations of longer texts for a reasonable fee.
7. How can I write in Tibetan on the message board?
At this point the message board does not support any Tibetan font. There is a way around it though. You can post it as an image, e.g. jpg-file. To put an image in the message you type this in the message where it should appear:
\image{YourDescription}
When the message is posted, you will be asked to provide a file for the image. In the above example the program would ask you to provide a file for the image "YourDescription". For more information see the help section on the message forum.
8. I want to use your material, is that OK?
You can download anything from our site, store it on your hard drive, and use it in any way you wish, as long as you do not distribute it. You must ask us for permission if you want to use some of our material in a project where they would be distributed, such as another website. For more information, see our copyright page.
